Wisdom Treatment Center
Our Treatment Philosophy
It is our sincere desire to motivate our clients to choose a healthier way of life and to help themselves to get the life they really want.
Our Program Philosophy
We take a Three Step approach to addiction treatment, BODY-MIND-SPIRIT.
This three-fold approach encompasses the clients’ physiological, emotional and spiritual needs.
We are a client-centered program based on respect and compassion.
Although addiction has common characteristics and behavior patterns associated with it, we treat each client as unique.
Each therapeutic issue is addressed individually. We utilize a wide range of therapeutic interventions in order to help each client achieve their specific goals.
In addition to traditional group and individual therapy, these interventions may include:
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (E.M.D.R ) for Post-Traumatic Stress and Compulsive Disorders.
At Wisdom Treatment Center
We specialize in treating people who suffer from chronic relapse with drugs and alcohol. By this we mean that they cannot stay clean & sober long enough to really get help. These patients generally have a co-existing psychiatric disorder such as Bi-Polar, Anxiety or Panic Disorders, and Depression. If left untreated, these disorders decrease their ability to cope with the realities of everyday life. They increase the likelihood that the addict will find comfort in the euphoric effects produced by drugs and alcohol. Our program focuses on long-term solutions. Wisdom Treatment Center recognizes the importance of treating the whole person. We do not believe in “institutionalizing” our clients. Our Burbank Rehab patients operate in a supervised, real world environment and learn to cope with everyday realities. We feel this is a major contributing factor to their long-term success.
What Makes Our Program Unique
The disease model of addiction implies that there is something physically wrong with an addict. Research has shown that there is a specific biochemistry that makes some people predisposed to addiction. Rather than a “moral failing” we view addiction as a “disease”. This causes an imbalance and disharmony in the life of a human being. The symptoms of this imbalance are physical, emotional and spiritual. By recognizing this we know that the disease can be treated and/or managed, and the impact reduced. While we acknowledge that there may be predispositions to addiction. We focus more on identifying and treating the specific areas of dis-ease and working toward helping the client restore balance both inside and out. We do this using the most progressive 21st century modalities available.
Our professional staff has the training and experience to profoundly address any emotional issues, childhood traumas and other significant personal and interpersonal problems which may come up in the course of treatment. These issues have an impact on the person’s addictive behavior and quality of life. Our goal is to help clients build self-esteem and self-confidence and to give them the tools to deal with life on life’s terms. With a sense of empowerment and self-worth our Burbank rehab clients are in a better frame of mind to say “no” to unhealthy, addictive behaviors and to say “yes” to the healthy choices that make life worth living.
Wisdom is client centered. This means that the needs of our clients drive the organizations focus.
Clients collaborate with their counselors, family, and peers to develop individual treatment plans.
This becomes the blueprint for their success at Wisdom and beyond. No single treatment is appropriate for all individuals.
